To make the pension system in Germany future-proof, supplementary capital coverage is needed in old-age provision. The early retirement pension planned by the German government can provide an important introduction to long-term, equity-oriented provision as early as childhood. In their article for BOARD, our Chief Executive and Member of the Board Henriette Peucker and the Head of our Think Tank, Dr Norbert Kuhn, use international examples to show how state-subsidised children's savings accounts can be successfully structured and how the findings can be applied to Germany.
