Audit Committee Quarterly: Savings and Investment Union: not just old wine in new bottles
The concept of a Savings and Investment Union is creating new momentum for strengthening the capital market in the EU. The aim is to use the capital market for the benefit of the people while facilitating investment in start-ups and scale-ups and reducing the fragmentation of European markets. At the same time, new legal frameworks and modernised supervision are intended to make the capital market more efficient and marketable. In a guest article for Audit Committee Quarterly, our Chief Economist Dr Gerrit Fey emphasises that the implementation of measures such as EU-wide investment savings accounts can increase the population's participation in corporate success and strengthen the financing base of European companies in the long term.
