Digital euro must take needs of the real economy into account
In addition to the ECB's public consultation in 2021, the European Commission is conducting a "targeted consultation on a digital euro". In our response, we welcome the plans to introduce a digital euro. Increasing digitization in the financial sector opens up new opportunities for financial service providers and companies.
When designing the digital euro, it is therefore also important to consider the needs of the real economy. We consider the currently discussed limits for the use of a digital euro to be counterproductive in the B2B area. Furthermore we consider the programmability of the e-euro to be equally relevant, as this is the only way to enable integration into automated payment processes using smart contracts.
