European Union exit negotiations with the United Kingdom: minimising Brexit risks and strengthening the European capital market (in German)
The third position paper of Deutsches Aktieninstitut on the Brexit negotiations uses the example of customs duties and product approvals as well as derivatives and data protection to show what companies can do themselves to solve the problems caused by Brexit. However, it makes clear that, especially in the event of a hard Brexit, companies are dependent on the support of the European or German legislator as well as the supervisory authorities. Without accompanying government measures, the transition to the post-Brexit era will not be smooth.
Due to the high time pressure as well as the many unanswered questions, Deutsches Aktieninstitut has advocated transitional regulations and practical solutions from the very beginning in order to avert the dramatic damage to the European economy threatened by Brexit.
The current position paper complements the first two position papers from 2017. An English version is available here.
The Brexit Compendium, founded in autumn 2017 together with other renowned business associations and institutions, is also growing continuously and now comprises more than 20 institutions. It summarises the Brexit position papers of the associations on a website www.brexit-kompendium.de.
