Enabling high-quality occupational pension provision for all employees
Shares offer attractive returns over the long term – and therefore great potential for retirement provision. The defined contribution scheme introduced in 2018 under the social partner model enables employees to benefit more from these returns without expensive guarantees. In countries such as Sweden, the proportion of shares in occupational pension schemes is twice as high as in Germany – with correspondingly better results. In its statement on the draft bill for a second law to strengthen occupational pension schemes, Deutsches Aktieninstitut therefore advocates making the pure defined contribution scheme available across the board, including for smaller companies. This will enable more people to benefit from higher returns and significantly better pensions.
