European Single Access Point must not result in additional obligations for listed companies
The EU Commission’s proposal for a regulation establishing a European Single Access Point (ESAP) aims at making mandatory corporate information accessible in a European data portal. In general, we agree with this goal as it may improve access to information for investors.
We also support that ESAP should build upon existing national data reporting channels and infrastructures such as the German ‘Unternehmensregister’. However, it must be ensured that ESAP will not add new material or formal aspects to reporting requirements of issuers through the back door of the implementing technical standards still to be drafted by the European supervisory authorities.
