In his guest article for Focus Online, Dr. Norbert Kuhn, Head of Corporate Finance and Deputy Head of Capital Markets, explains why more equities in the German pension system make sense in order to future-proof the pension system. For investment periods of 20 or 30 years, which are relevant for retirement provision, equities deliver stable and attractive returns. A broadly diversified long-term equity investment in the DAX40, for example, has generated average annual returns of six to nine percent in the past. The planned generation capital is an introduction to capital cover with shares in the statutory pension.
