Make the EU taxonomy framework more feasible by targeted changes
In the comments we submitted today regarding the European Commission’s proposed amendments to the delegated acts on climate and the environment under the EU Taxonomy Regulation, we set out our recommendations for key improvements. Among other things, we propose:
- reducing the reporting burden by limiting 'do no significant harm' criteria for activities in the EU, the United Kingdom and the United States, given that these jurisdictions already have strict permitting procedures,
- removing the 2035 transition deadline for natural gas to decarbonised gas, as this is not feasible,
- giving companies the option to apply the proposed changes for either the 2026 or 2027 fiscal year.
