n-tv: SPD wants to tighten the tax screw on investors
The SPD wants to tax investors' profits more heavily in the future. By raising the withholding tax from 25 to 30 per cent, returns will be noticeably reduced. A financial transaction tax for trading in currencies and shares is also under discussion. From the point of view of Dr Norbert Kuhn, Head of Think Tank of Deutsches Aktieninstitut, this is the wrong signal. Rather, he says, tax breaks are needed, as is already common practice in Sweden, France and Italy.
