Turn the IPO into an Exit Booster
Effective exit strategies from private investments such as private equity or venture capital are crucial for a strong environment for innovation and growth in Europe. Initial public offerings (IPOs) are central to our approach, although they do not play a significant role as an exit route across the EU. It is therefore important that the European Commission strengthens the role of IPOs as part of its consultation on exit strategies. A key element here is the participation of EU citizens in the stock market through pension provision and long-term wealth accumulation. Furthermore, we consider a simplification of the rules governing IPOs to be urgently needed and propose a listing omnibus at EU level for this purpose. The platform for trading in private equity proposed by the European Commission can complement existing exit options. However, it must not become a competitor to IPOs.
