Companies in the transformation process (in German)
Where do German listed companies stand in the transformation process towards a sustainable economy? We explored this question with the law firm Hengeler Mueller in the joint study "Companies in the Transformation Process - Challenges and Opportunities of Sustainability". The study is based on a survey of CFOs and supervisory board chairmen of DAX, MDAX and SDAX companies. They were asked what drives them in the transformation and how the consideration of ESG issues affects companies. In addition, the survey covered how they assess the regulatory projects Taxonomy, Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and Sustainable Corporate Governance.
The study shows that capital market-oriented companies actively take up the topic of sustainability and anchor diverse management and process elements in order to drive the transformation process forward. Sustainability with its facets of environmental, social and governance (ESG) has reached the everyday life of listed companies. However, the willingness of companies to change goes hand in hand with the desire for international coordination and more sense of proportion in regulation.
