Update Wirtschaft from 13 November 2025
Many young people assume that the statutory pension will not be sufficient to finance a good standard of living in old age. That is why many of them are taking the initiative themselves and making private provisions on the capital market. In an interview with Update Wirtschaft, Dr Gerrit Fey, Chief Economist at the German Stock Institute, explains that young people can benefit particularly from this: They have enough time to invest money regularly, broadly diversified and for the long term in shares, equity funds or ETFs and can expect average returns of between 6 and 9 per cent per year. He explains how this works in the programme. (From minute 14:15)
