On the occasion of the EU consultation on the Renewed Sustainable Finance Strategy, Deutsches Aktieninstitut opposes further regulatory measures for the financial sector. Climate change has already led to the financial materialization of non-financial risks for many companies. Due to this fact, the goals of the Paris agreement are today largely implemented in business strategies. In its response to the consultation, Deutsches Aktieninstitut calls on the EU Commission to regard Sustainable Finance more from a market-perspective and less from an exclusive regulatory perspective. What is needed is a lean framework setting the right incentives for a green economy while providing for a sufficient level of flexibility for companies to achieve a smooth transition to become “green”.
