ZDFheute: Early retirement: What we can learn from other countries
Deutsches Aktieninstitut wants to launch the early retirement pension in 2026. The aim of the state-subsidised pension account is to build up assets early on via the capital market, thereby strengthening long-term retirement provision. The report by ZDFheute highlights the findings of a joint study by Deutsches Aktieninstitut and Vanguard: if designed correctly, the reform could be the first step towards a funded pension for all sections of the population. There are already examples of this in countries such as France, the United Kingdom and Canada.
The report was published on 30 September 2025.
