Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung: How 250 DM became 50.000 Euros (in German)
In an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Dr. Christine Bortenlänger, Chief Executive Officer, and Dr. Franz-Josef Leven, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, emphasize the importance of an efficient capital market for financing global and national challenges. These include combating climate change, digitization, financing innovations and securing the prosperity of future generations.
They call on policymakers to make shares more attractive as an investment and financing instrument for a significantly larger group of people in Germany. The record shareholder figures of 2022 show that shares are becoming increasingly attractive as an investment among people in Germany. Investment in the capital market is particularly suitable as a booster for retirement provision, which is, after all, designed for the long term.
Ms. Bortenlänger emphasizes that the regulatory requirements for companies are too strict and thus tend to prevent IPOs.
